This umpm FAQ spots Money 2006 from afar

Microsoft released Money 2006 in July of 2005. I had some hope it would reverse the excesses of Money 2005 and prove a suitable replacement for Money 2004 going forward.
Perhaps I was unduly optimistic.
In its favor I can say that Money 2006 did re-expose the setting for dual category list. Many users report it works better with Yodlee. It also appears to have toned down all of the annoying assertions that "Most Users Prefer™" the dumbed-down Essential * stuff. Some users report finding it faster than Money 2005.
Sadly, I wasn't one of them.
In my environment--my laptop machine--and with my data, the trial version of Money 2006 proved excruciatingly slow. We're talking over half an hour to open and close the application with my data file and doing no useful work. That's simply unusable. Though reports of these kinds of debilitating performance problems have not been common, my experience was not unique. Before you ask, yes, this machine significantly exceeded the stated system requirements for Money 2006.
For this reason, and despite some interchange with senior members of the Money product team that did not result in performance improvements, I was unable to do the same kind of lengthy trial I did before rejecting Money 2005. Based on my limited experience I conclude that my position on Money 2005 applies to Money 2006 as well. As always, YMMV.
Here's hoping for Money 2007… Sometime soon Money 2004 will stop getting quotes.
